A thobe for Eid, trousers to shorten, or a dress to alter? Here's what we found on prices, and tips so the result is exactly what you want.

How much does a tailor cost in Riyadh?

Tailors rarely publish prices, and they vary a lot by shop and fabric. Here's what we found:

ServiceRough price
Men's tailored thobe at a shop (offers incl. fabric)About SAR 300 – 400
Ready-made thobe (for comparison)SAR 115 – 300
Shortening and simple alterationsPrice by agreement, usually low

💡 Before Eid and Ramadan tailors are very busy. Order a month or more ahead so it's ready and there's time for adjustments.

🧵 The price depends a lot on the fabric. Ask for the tailoring-only price if you bring your own fabric.

A rough guide from 3 sources in Saudi Arabia (October 2026), including Riyadh tailoring shops' offers and ready-made thobe prices. Common problems and their causes

Too tight or too loose

Usually measured wrongly, or the fabric shrank after washing. Ask for a fitting before collection.

Shrank after the first wash

Some fabrics shrink. Ask whether the tailor pre-washes the fabric.

Late delivery

Especially before Eid. Write the collection date on the receipt.

Buttons and cuffs don't match

Agree the buttons, pockets and collar from the start.

Uneven trouser hem

Get measured wearing the shoes you'll wear with them.

Seams come apart quickly

Usually weak thread or wide stitches. A good tailor fixes it for free.

Before you choose a tailor

  1. A fitting first

Ask for a fitting before it's finished, so adjustments are easy.

  2. Date in writing

The collection date on the receipt, especially before occasions.

  3. The fabric

Ask about the fabric and where it's from, and whether it shrinks.

  4. The details

Collar, sleeves, pockets, buttons: agree them all and show a photo.

  5. All-in price?

Fabric, tailoring, adjustments after the fitting: everything clear.

  6. Past work

See clothes they made for people you know, or ask about the shop's reputation.

Common questions

How long does a tailored thobe take?

Usually one to two weeks normally. Before Eid it can take much longer.

Tailored or ready-made?

Ready-made is cheaper and faster. Tailored is better if you're not a standard size or want a particular fabric and details.

Does Laqeeni take commission?

No. Laqeeni is a directory that connects you with the tailor directly. You agree and pay between you.
