Shades and fences in Riyadh

A car shade against the Riyadh sun, or a screen for privacy? Here are rough prices per square metre, the difference between materials, and what to agree before it's fitted.

How much do shades and fences cost per m² in Riyadh?

Most companies charge per square metre including fitting. The price varies a lot with the material, its thickness and the frame.

ServiceRough price
PVC fabric car shadeSAR 100 – 320 per m²
Steel shadeSAR 100 – 250 per m²
Polycarbonate (Lexan) shadeSAR 200 – 450 per m²
Wooden shade or pergolaSAR 400 – 1,200 per m²
Steel or slatted screenSAR 100 – 350 per m²
Fabric screenSAR 90 – 250 per m²

💡 For PVC fabric, Korean is usually cheaper than German or European, but takes the sun less well. Ask about the fabric type, thickness and guarantee.

🔩 The frame matters more than the fabric: ask about the steel thickness and the paint (rust-proof), because that's what holds the shade up for years.

Common problems and what usually causes them

Fabric faded or cracked quickly

Usually cheap fabric that can't take the Riyadh sun. Good fabric comes with a guarantee of several years against fading and tearing.

Rust on the steel posts

Paint that isn't rust-proof, or water collecting at the base. Clean and repaint before the steel weakens.

The shade flaps or sags in the wind

The tension has loosened or bolts have come loose. The company can re-tension the fabric.

Water collects on top of the shade

Not enough slope. A shade needs a fall so rainwater runs off.

The screen is too low

Measure the height you need from the street and neighbours before it's made, not after.

It's hot under the shade

Some materials hold heat. Light-coloured fabric or insulated polycarbonate keeps it cooler.

Before you agree with any shade company

  1. Which material exactly?

The fabric (Korean, German, European), the steel thickness and the type of polycarbonate. Get it in writing.

  2. Measure the area

Measure together, and get the area and price per m² in the quote.

  3. Foundations

Ask how the posts are fixed: concrete footings or bolts into tiles? It makes a difference to how solid it is.

  4. Guarantee

How many years on the fabric? And on the frame and paint?

  5. Rules

If you live in a building or compound, ask about rules on colour or height before you order.

  6. Past work

Look at shades they fitted two or more years ago, not just new photos.

Make your shade last

Rinse it

Spraying the fabric with water every few months removes dust and protects the colour.

Check the bolts

Before summer and the windy season, check the bolts and tension.

Watch for rust

As soon as you see rust, clean and paint it before it spreads.

Nothing heavy on it

The frame is built to hold the fabric, not things hung from it.

Common questions

Which car shade is best?

Good PVC fabric is cheaper and gives good shade. Steel and polycarbonate are stronger and last longer, but cost more. Most important: a strong frame and fabric with a guarantee.

How long does fitting take?

A shade for one or two cars usually takes one to two days after it's made, depending on the foundations and size.

Does Laqeeni take commission?

No. Laqeeni is a directory that connects you with the company directly. You agree and pay between you.
