Painter in Riyadh

Repainting a room or a whole apartment? Here are rough prices per square metre, how to work out the cost yourself, and what to agree with the painter before they start.

How much does a painter cost in Riyadh?

Most painters charge by the square metre. The price depends on the paint, the state of the walls, and whether you or they buy the materials.

ServiceRough price
Interior painting per m² (labour only)SAR 8 – 12 per m²
Interior painting per m² (with materials, Jotun or Al Jazeera)SAR 12 – 25 per m²
Example: 4×4 m room (walls and ceiling, about 60 m²) with materialsSAR 700 – 1,500
A tin of Jotun paint (by type and size)SAR 30 – 460

💡 Work it out yourself: length × height of each wall, minus doors and windows, plus the ceiling. Multiply the total by the price per m².

🧱 Peeling or damp walls need filler and treatment before painting, which costs more. Ask for it as a separate line in the quote.

A rough guide from 3 sources in Saudi Arabia (October 2026), including Riyadh painting contractors' prices and Jotun paint prices. We couldn't find reliable prices for a whole apartment, so we give the price per square metre. The final price is agreed between you and the painter. Laqeeni doesn't set prices or take commission.

Common paint problems and their causes

Paint peeling or bubbling

Usually damp inside the wall. Fix the damp first, or the new paint will peel too.

Hairline cracks in the wall

Usually from the plaster or the heat. The painter fills them and sands them before painting.

Colour differs from wall to wall

Paint from different batches, or only one coat. Buy all the paint at once and ask for two coats.

Old stains showing through

Damp, smoke or pen marks. They need a primer first, not just more paint on top.

Strong paint smell

Especially oil-based paint. Air the home well, and ask about water-based paints for bedrooms.

Visible roller marks

Thin paint or rushed work. Two coats and a good roller make a big difference.

Before you agree with any painter

  1. Per m² or a fixed price?

Agree the method at the start. If it's per m², measure together before and after.

  2. Who buys the materials?

If the painter does, name the exact brand and paint, and see the tins before they're opened.

  3. How many coats?

Ask for at least two coats, plus filler and sanding where needed.

  4. Covering and cleaning

Will they cover floors, furniture and sockets? Will they clean up when they finish?

  5. How long?

How many days will it take? Get it in writing with the price, even on WhatsApp.

  6. Photos and reviews

Look at real photos of past work, not pictures from the internet, and reviews from earlier customers.

Paint a small square on the wall and look at it by day and night before you decide.

Fix damp before painting

Any leak or damp must be fixed first, or you'll lose the new paint.

Keep a spare tin

A small tin of the same colour is handy for touch-ups later.

Bathrooms and kitchens

Use a washable paint that can take the moisture in bathrooms and kitchens.

Common questions

How long does painting an apartment take?

A medium apartment usually takes 3 to 7 days, depending on the size, the state of the walls and the number of workers.

Jotun or Al Jazeera?

Both are well known in Saudi Arabia, with cheaper and more expensive ranges. What matters most is the right type for the place (bedrooms, bathroom, outside).

Does Laqeeni take commission?

No. Laqeeni is a directory that connects you with the painter directly. You agree and pay between you.
